From a Mom's perspective

 Quiet time

Kiddies are all asleep and I've got some quiet time! Hubby is out of town this weekend, so I've been on my own since yesterday afternoon. Quite tiring. Tonight I worked until well past the younger ones' bedtimes, and the poor little guys were falling asleep when I brought them home. Ds3 has been going potty all day long. We went and let him pick out some underwear this morning, and he only had one accident all day! Woohoo for potty training! He's actually making it very easy at the moment (knock on wood).

Otherwise, nothing exciting going on here. I think this mommy is taking advantage of the quiet and going to bed early!

 I hope I'm getting out...

On the job front, I had put a bid in a few weeks back on another position, Monday through Friday, holidays off, no weekends, no evenings... paradise! I thought I didn't get it because they usually call on these things pretty quickly, but it turns out that the supervisor over there had lost her voice and couldn't call for interviews. So I went to my first interview yesterday and thought it went really well. She called back today to invite me to a second interview next week, so I'll be keeping my fingers crossed!

Hubby is out of town this weekend, and ds3 is having a rough night. First he puked all over the floor as soon as I got him home, seemed fine after that. Then he fell on the stairs and busted his bottom lip pretty good, poor little guy. I know that one smarted. He just doesn't seem quite "right" tonight, although it's nothing I can put my finger on. Maybe he's coming down with something. On a bright note, he has started pee-peeing in the potty in the evenings this week!

Maybe he'll be out of diapers by the time the baby comes after all! He's only a little over 2, so I'm not too worried yet, but very excited that he's started going on his own. And he wants some King Kong underwear like his big brother.

The older kids are happy that school is almost over for the year. The teenager is going to summer school. Otherwise, all is quiet on the big kid front. It'll be time for summer visits with dad pretty soon . I miss them, but they have a good time. Well, at least the younger two of the three. The teenager not so much. He doesn't want to be away from his girlfriend.

Well, this baby has to get to bed and I don't think he's going to do it of his own accord tonight. So I'm off for some

 Oh the drama

I swear lately I work in a daycare, not a professional setting full of adults. And I must say, I am not handling the stress well. It all started last week when the girls from the ER called to say someone called off and they were stuck there for 12 hours with no lunch and could one of us please run to DQ for them and pick them something up. I happened to answer the phone, and said that one of us would (I'd want someone to do the same for me if I had to go 12 hours without a break!) No one else wanted to go (I asked) so I went. Biiiiiig mistake!

Now, for reference, it's not uncommon for someone to leave for a few minutes to run an errand or something. People leave for marriage counseling, to go to the tanning bed, for food, to pick up their kids, whatever. And although it is technically against the rules, it really shouldn't have been a big deal. But it is.

One of my coworkers complained to my boss, saying that I took two breaks and she didn't even get one. First thing I heard about it was 4 days later when I went to check my time on the system and saw that I'd been cut for 45 min. worth of pay. That was Fri. night.

Monday morning first thing I called my boss and asked what was up. She said she charged me for 2 lunches because someone told her that I took two lunches. I explained my POV to her, admitting that I probably shouldn't have left but that I felt bad for the gals downstairs and definitely wasn't gone for 45 minutes. She said she had hit the wrong button and meant to charge me for 15 minutes, and told me not to leave again if I'd already had my lunch. That should have been the end of it, but oooooooh no, that would be too easy!

This week (yesterday and today) I've been working in a different department, up on the hill, far away from the others in my department, and by myself (except for the people who work in that department, not part of my regular department). Well, yesterday afternoon, after the discussion with my boss, I got a call from the girl who had run to her with the information that I was gone to DQ. She said she was tired of people down there talking about how she was a rat for tattling, and she'd just tell me straight up that she told because it pissed her off that I took 2 breaks without even checking to see if she wanted one.

I was very calm on the surface, and told her I wish she had said something to me, and pointed out that I did ask before I went. That was that, nothing more was said. So today, just before time to go home, I get an email from my boss saying something to the effect of:

I was willing to let this drop but apparently you're not. You've been talking to everyone inside and outside of the department and everyone you pass on the street.

There was a lot more, but that was the gist of it. I was floored! I haven't talked to anyone (as there's no one around to talk to anyway where I've been working) and if anyone was talking it certainly wasn't me! And why in the world I'd be advertising the fact that I got in trouble would be beyond me.

So, I don't know what's going on the "main" department, but I am quite positive that I wasn't down there talking about anything. Yeah, I did wrong, I was reprimanded and my pay was cut accordingly, now why can't we just let it go? I couldn't care less if the other girl is down there saying whatever she wants to say about me, she's nothing to me. But what has me so upset is my boss's email. She works down there, and knows darn good and well that I haven't been there to start/say anything even if I had wanted to!

I have an interview on Thurs. for another dept, and I'm praying right now that I get it. I dread going to work tomorrow, even though I'm still up in the other department by myself. At least that much is a blessing. I don't have to go back to the main department until... sometime late next week I think. Weekend I work the ER, and early next week where I'm at now. Just gonna go in and do my job and not even answer my phone if it rings.

Hopefully this blows over, but I'm just so upset right now. Off to watch cartoons with the baby.

 Is it a full moon?

I'm sure the full moon must have been out last night even though the calendar says it's not until next weekend. My coworker had to leave early due to an illness in her family, which left me to man the ER alone for most of the evening. Words can not even begin to describe it. I do believe I've seen it all now. I won't even try to describe the particulars here, just suffice it to say I'm glad I'm off this weekend and not working the ER next week.

Today my parents renewed their wedding vows, it was very sweet. They've been married for 34 years and act like they just met yesterday (sometimes). The whole (crazy) family was there, and the reception was a very good time for all. My aunt forgot the cake, though, and I'm sure my mom will never let her live that down.

The kiddies have been monsters ever since I got them home, and I'm anxiously awaiting the return of dh so I can go to the store for a few things. No way am I insane enough to hit the store with these 4 in tow tonight, they are in some mood! The two youngest have been trying to beat each other up since we got home, my teenager is sulking over his latest break-up, and my daughter is trying desperately to play the Sims2 in peace (not working!) I think the youngest is coming down with another cold (or else he has allergies) and they are all too tired from the excitement of the day (mommy included) . No good can come of this.

 Is it Friday yet?

It's not very often that I get two weekends off in a row, so I'm really looking forward to this one coming up. My parents are renewing their wedding vows on Saturday, and that will be very nice and a fun family event. Our family events are always fun, if a little nutty. This summer one of my cousins has obtained from somewhere a karaoke machine. So we've had 2 or 3 cookouts at my mom's house with the karaoke machine hooked up IN THE FRONT YARD and various relatives wailing out very bad renditions of old country songs. It *is* quite entertaining, though.

I bought a pair of "non-regulation" pants yesterday, as I just couldn't bear to wear the 2 sizes-too-small-rubber-band-cutting-into-my-belly pair that I've been squeezing into for the past 2 weeks. My boss didn't notice. I'm glad. I was hoping they were close enough to our actual "uniform" $100/pair pants that she wouldn't notice they were half-price $15/pair Goody's pants. It worked. I have a little wiggle room in them, should last me a couple of months anyway (maybe .

I'm back to the ER today and tomorrow, so who knows what the day will bring. You just never know in that place. Usually it's a lot of sick kids and ear infections and broken bones and such, but you just gotta be prepared.

Gotta go pay bills since dh finally got paid, so I'm off for now!
